Post college, she had applied for the profile of a reporter in Indian Express newspaper and got an opportunity to work in their Chandigarh office. With no background of journalism, she excelled in the field and won two prestigious awards for the best journalist from Indian Express Group.
In her stint with midday newspaper, Skimmy always had made her mark with her high profile crime cum entertainment related stories which earned her many front page by-line during her tenure. Be it a murder case, robberies, Bollywood involved in killing, negligence by doctors, Skimmy was the first to break them. As a result, she again won an award for best crime journalist.
As Skimmy moved to Times of India group, she shifted her focus to soft beats like lifestyle, luxury and little bit of Bollywood. Later the lady moved on to Asian Age publication, she took care of political beat as well as corporate news as a special correspondent. During that period, Skimmy covered daily activities of late actor turned politician Sunil Dutt as he was contesting election against Sanjay Nirupam. Another path breaking story

During her stint with DNA, Skimmy was applauded by many as she wrote an interesting article about why miss India contestants weren’t winning crown for the country. After having a flourishing career in journalism, Skimmy also ventured into public relations and still does it with limited clients from lifestyle and luxury sector.
